HOW DOES HALO FRACTIONAL RESURFACING WORK?

The Halo hybrid fractional laser delivers dual wavelengths, non-ablative (penetrating up to 1470 microns deep) and ablative (2940 microns deep). That means we can treat both the epidermis and dermis in the same treatment spot to maximize results and reduce downtime.

WHO IS AN IDEAL CANDIDATE FOR HALO?

Halo hybrid fractional laser is safe for all skin types, as, unlike older lasers, they aren’t pigment-targeting. It rejuvenates skin, targeting the effects of sun damage, including uneven pigmentation, texture, and reflectivity.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING THE PROCEDURE?

We will walk you through everything during your consultation, including providing information on how to prepare for and how to treat your skin following your Halo procedure. About 30 minutes before your procedure, we will apply numbing cream (and you may also opt for oral pain medication) to lessen the mild-to-moderate discomfort typically reported. We treat the face one section at a time by rolling the Halo hand piece in a crisscross pattern. The laser has motion tracking to ensure the entire area is treated evenly.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT AFTER HALO LASER RESURFACING?

Once skin is healed, our patients notice a significant reduction in sun damage, smoother texture, brighter tone, and a more youthful appearance. You will see initial results 2-5 days after your Halo treatment, but your skin will continue to improve over time. Most patients see the greatest improvement in 2-3 weeks. Downtime is typically 5-7 days, depending on the depth of treatment and how your body tolerates it. Immediately following, it will feel like a bad sunburn—warm, red, and possibly swollen with pinpoint bleeding. Over the next 2-3 days, your skin may be itchy with bronze spots and a rough sandpaper-like texture. Redness may up persist several days, but can be covered up with makeup. You must be vigilant to protect your skin from any sun exposure and apply sunscreen containing zinc oxide every day.

DO I NEED MORE THAN ONE HALO TREATMENT?

Each patient is different, from your skin type and level of photoaging to your lifestyle and tolerance for downtime. Depending on these variables and your specific goals, we can help you decide your treatment plan. Best results are achieved with 1-3 treatments, spaced 6-8 weeks apart, but our patients see amazing results with a single treatment.
